What kind of place is The Mansion?
A private, heritage-style villa on a five-acre estate in Dharampur, outside Kasauli. It was completed in 2020 on the site of a 1923 summer house and has eight ensuite bedrooms, a living room, dining room, library and sunroom, two lawns, and an outdoor infinity pool with a jacuzzi. A caretaker, chefs and housekeeping staff are on site.
How many rooms are there, and how many people can stay?
Eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms across two floors. The house sleeps up to 23 people in all, counting children, infants and any staff travelling with you, and extra beds can be added. The minimum booking is four to five rooms, depending on the season.
Is it suitable for elderly guests?
Yes. Cars can drive right up to the entrance, and Rooms 101 and 102 are on the ground floor, so anyone who would rather avoid the stairs can stay on one level.
Is The Mansion a good choice for a large group?
It is built for one. Few houses near Kasauli have eight ensuite bedrooms under one roof, and the pool, lawns and common rooms are shared only with your own group. Chefs cook for everyone, there is parking for 10 cars, and a generator keeps the whole house running in a power cut. Guests rate it 5.0 from 150 reviews on StayVista.
The pool
Does The Mansion have a swimming pool?
Yes — an outdoor infinity pool, 4 ft deep, with an eight-seater jacuzzi beside it that we heat on request. Both are for staying guests only and open from 8 AM to 8 PM.
Can children use the pool?
Yes, with an adult. At 4 ft it is shallow enough for older children to stand in, and children must be supervised whenever they are at the pool.
Food
Are meals available?
Yes. The house chefs cook everything fresh, either à la carte or as full-board vegetarian and non-vegetarian packages. Lunch and dinner need about three hours' notice; snacks about half an hour. Guests don't use the kitchen. Meals are charged separately, plus 18% GST.
Can we have a barbecue or bonfire?
Yes, both can be arranged on the lawn. A bonfire is ₹1,000 for three hours; a barbecue is charged with your meals.
Celebrations and groups
Can we hold a birthday, anniversary or private party?
Yes — many of our guests come to celebrate. There are two lawns with over 4,000 sq ft of open space, the chefs can cater for the whole group, and the staff can help with a cake and decorations. Music is allowed until 10 PM. Day visitors beyond your booked group need our permission in advance.
Do you host weddings?
Call us before you book. Whether we can host a wedding depends on the number of guests and what you have in mind, so we would rather talk it through than promise something online.
Arriving
Where exactly is The Mansion?
On Basholu Road in Dharampur, Tehsil Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh 173209 — about 12 km (30 minutes) from Kasauli market. It is 61 km (about 1.5 hours) from Chandigarh airport, 25 km from Kalka railway station and about 300 km (5.5 hours) from Delhi.
Can we drive up to the house? Is there parking?
Yes, you can drive right up to the entrance, and there is parking inside the property for up to 10 cars. Rooms for up to two drivers can be arranged at ₹1,000 per driver per day, meals included.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 2 PM and check-out is by 11 AM. Everyone staying needs a government photo ID.
What is there to do nearby?
Walk along the UNESCO-listed Kalka–Shimla railway, two minutes from the gate; hike to a hilltop viewpoint (about 40 minutes each way); spend a day in Kasauli (30 minutes away) or Shimla (about two hours); visit the 1849 jail museum at Dagshai; or drive an hour to the Bhurshing Mahadev temple.

No, we are not able to host pets.
Is smoking or alcohol allowed?
Smoking is allowed outdoors only. Alcohol is allowed in designated areas.

What is the cancellation policy?
More than 12 days before arrival: a full refund (less a 10% processing fee) or a 100% future-stay voucher. Between 6 and 12 days: a 50% refund or a 60% voucher. Within 6 days of arrival: no refund.
